1105 Government Information Group Appoints Barry Rosenberg as Editor-in-Chief of Defense Systems Magazine

FALLS CHURCH, VA, October 4, 2010--1105 Government Information Group, a division of 1105 Media, Inc., this week announced the appointment of Barry Rosenberg as Editor of Defense Systems magazine and the DefenseSystems.com website.

Rosenberg is an award-winning journalist with over 25 years of experience as a reporter, analyst and editor in aerospace and defense markets. He has been an editor or a contributing writer for a wide variety of industry leading media, including: Aviation Week & Space Technology, Defense News, the Armed Forces Journal, C4ISR Journal, Avionics, Popular Mechanics, Forbes, Financial Times, Overhaul & Maintenance and Aerospace Engineering. He has also been a contributor to the Huffington Post website. Rosenberg has been managing editor of the Aviation Week & Space Technology Show News dailies at global events, the editorial director for dozens of Aviation Week conferences and he developed the content for the C4ISR Integration conference for the Defense News Media Group from 2006-2009.

“As Editor, Barry Rosenberg will give Defense Systems journalistic leadership that’s deeply experienced in defense that its readers expect and respect.” said 1105 Government Information Group President, Anne Armstrong upon the appointment.

Rosenberg has been a contributing editor on C4ISR issues for Defense Systems for two years. He has written many of the magazine’s cover stories, conducted most of the one-on-one interviews with the top military program managers and general/flag officers, and has taken on a successively increased role in the success of Defense Systems.

“Barry’s appointment now as Editor is an exciting and positive development for Defense Systems. The quality, depth and insight of Barry’s writing contributions have been a key ingredient for our success over the last years with Defense Systems. He’s one of the pre-eminent journalists in the defense business and I’m delighted to be able to work with him as our Editor,” said David Smith, Publisher, Defense Systems.

Defense Systems magazine and website covers network-enabled warfare and its integrated technologies of defense communications, IT, sensors and related C4ISR systems (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance). Network-enabled warfare – the convergence and connectivity of these knowledge technologies in a network environment – creates situational awareness and information dominance for warfighters.

In past two years, Defense Systems recorded more than 100% growth in print and more than 70% growth online. Steady growth has continued throughout 2010. Rosenberg takes the reins as Defense Systems’ Editor-in-Chief from Wyatt Kash, who has ably served as Editor-in-Chief for both Defense Systems and Government Computer News. Kash takes on new responsibilities as Director of Event Content Strategy and Editor-at-Large for 1105 Government Information Group.
